In the context of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), "CAT I" and "CAT II" refer to categories of Continuing Medical Education (CME) activities that healthcare professionals must complete annually to maintain their licensure.


  • Category 1 (CAT I):

Accredited and structured learning activities, like conferences, workshops, live seminars, and online certified courses. Organized by approved institutions to update medical knowledge.

  • Category 2 (CAT II):

Self-learning activities, like reading medical journals, attending non-accredited workshops, discussing cases with colleagues, or preparing research. Not officially accredited but still recognized for professional growth.
